So everyone's ideas or creed must be tolerated, and far more, respected.
Even if you don't agree with those ideas or with anyone’s religion, they all deserve respect for the very reason of being a human person.
We all have different ideas and religious beliefs, in fact we are all unequal, and that might be either physical or intellectual, even twins have different personalities or ideas. Throughout the world's history these differences have caused great divisions, discrimination and war in society.
In spite of all those differences we must never forget three higher principles:
Every human being is equally important
Every human being is equal before the law, and
Every human being has the freedom to believe, think and/or express anything.
We all deserve to live in peace and since we all have the liberty to believe, think and express anything we want, we have the responsibility to respect and tolerate the ideas, creed and speech of others; we may agree or disagree with someone's idea, but it is our responsibility to protect his freedom and guarantee peace by tolerating his ideas.
Nobody should silence, attack, kill or stop another person for his or her ideas and religious beliefs. As long as there is someone trying to force others to believe what he does believe, peace will be in danger.
If the belief of someone else is to put in danger the life, liberties and properties of others, then and only then we should act against that person, under the rule of law.
Without tolerance, we can hardly have peace. Islamic extremist, for example, simply does not tolerate other religious beliefs. So that will always be a threat for peace, as long as they do not tolerate different faiths and creeds.
In a free and open society, toleration is the oxygen which keeps the peace alive, and when that happens our freedoms provide us with the best path to prosperity.
